Almost 10 years has passed since our last trip to the island, so this year we will plan another visit to our favourite houses.

Sadly, the land under vine is no more than 400 hectares these days, less than 10% of the area under vine in the 17th century. Tourism has overtaken Madeira production.

Fortunately, the quality of Madeira wine has risen significantly but our discerning customers still prefer to pay a premium for the old and rarest vintages of ‘proper’ Madeira.

We can offer a selection from the most desirable traditional producers, such as Barbeito, Cossart Gordon and favourite vintage specialist, Pereira D’Oliveira. Alongside some good value younger vintages, we can offer a quantity of D’Oliveira’s 1980 Boal and 1907 Malvasia, recently purchased from a large collector.

The oldest is the ultra-rare 1834 Malvasia from Barbeito but we also have a large selection of others not listed. Do subscribe or request the complete list.
