Tasting Notes
Burghound 95
Much like the Butteaux, the brooding nose is largely dominated by mineral reduction that is liberally laced with iodine, shrimp shell, sea breeze and Granny Smith apple scents where there is a touch of wood lurking in the background. There is outstanding volume and power to the borderline painfully intense large-scaled flavors that brim with both minerality and sappy dry extract while delivering superb length on the balanced finish that is not quite as dry as it usually is. It almost goes without saying that this is compact and bult-to-age but in fact, that is precisely what this is and extended patience will absolutely be required. This might not be a ‘best of all-time’ Raveneau Clos but it is nonetheless an exceptionally good 2023.
