Tasting Notes
Vinous 94
The 2022 Riesling Bockenauer Felseneck Auslese Goldkapsel is made in a style that Frohlich says he returned to five years ago, meaning less sweet, less rich and more thrilling. This is made from just a few rows of very late-harvested Riesling that slightly raisined (30%, without any botrytis infection). The wine is pale, not golden. The nose comes with a flicker of smoke and flint. The palate has notions of pear, even of baked pear, but all channels into lemony brightness. The 2022 shows light-footedness, levity and natural balance. It’s serene, breezy, unfettered, but above all, balanced and harmonious. (Sweet)
