Tasting Notes

The 2022 Montrachet Grand Cru has a captivating bouquet with immense purity: lemon curd, crushed stone, touches of yellow flowers and just a faint marzipan scent. Wonderful delineation. The palate is very well balanced with a vibrant entry, a keen line of acidity, taut and fresh, with a lightly spiced and extraordinarily persistent finish. Excellent. Bottled under Diam 30 Origine. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Mid lemon. Rich, complex nose of mature orchard fruits from peach to yellow plums to apples, with citrus freshness on top and around. Just a whole new level compared with the Comtes Lafon 2022s tasted up to this point. Intensely ripe and layered. Huge volume and intense but subtle spice. A cocktail of apple, lemon, lime and vegetal complexity. (MH)
Anticipated maturity: 2030-2045
