Tasting Notes
Vinous 87
The 2018 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru offers Morello cherry and cranberry on the nose, just a very slight confit element in the background. Lively. The palate is medium-bodied with a saccharine opening and brown sugar. Touches of tar infuse the red fruit, though it is missing some delineation and nerve on the finish. Par for the course, though it shows some melioration in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Burghound 88-91
Here a slightly more expressive nose combines slightly more red fruit-tinged aromas with those of earth and soft floral wisps. The slightly more supple medium weight flavors possess an almost easy-going mid-palate though the bitter cherry pit-inflected and sneaky long finish tightens up quickly.
