Tasting Notes
Vinous 98
With the 2010 La Romanee we enter the realm of wines that are going to require many, many years to just start drinking well. In the 2010, I am drawn to the wine’s explosive energy and tension. Beams of salivating acidity and firm tannins provide the backdrop for a vivid and viscerally thrilling Burgundy. The 2010 is an eternal wine that captivates readers for many, many decades. I only hope to taste it again when it is mature.
Anticipated maturity: 2030-2060
Robert Parker 97
Tasted at the La Romanee vertical at Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair. The 2010 La Romanee Grand Cru is a magnificent contribution to the vintage, one of the best that Louis-Michel has overseen. The bouquet is very intense with mineral-soaked red berry fruit mixed with truffle, rose petals, orange blossom and lavender. The palate is medium-bodied with refined tannin, wonderful balance and intensity, great backbone and enormous persistency in the mouth with hints of sage and black pepper. This La Romanee will require a decade in bottle but it will be worth the wait. Tasted June 2015.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2055
