Tasting Notes

The Bertani 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella shows a darker color compared to the wines before and after this in my vertical tasting. This vintage opens a new chapter for the estate with forward-thinking wines that prize elegance and finesse over the robust or extracted nature of past editions. This is the perfect vintage for such a shift because it was not too hot and it offered steep diurnal temperature shifts during the harvest season and later into appassimento. This is an angular and linear wine that still has a long way to go in terms of its bottle evolution. It shows dark fruit with a salty basalt character. It’s just a very beautiful Amarone.
