Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 96
The 1996 Comtes de Champagne is awesome, but it, too, is all about potential, and there is no shortage of it here. Austere and very youthful, the 1996 is dominated by bright, piercing acidity and formidable structure. Readers who can wait will be rewarded with a magical bottle of Champagne, but today patience is the word. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2036.

Of course, far too young, and as surely far too tempting to drink right now because the wine is already mighty tasty. More width than length so far. More nuttiness and breadiness than exoticism in the current state. Is sure to be another classic. Starting to get there as early as autumn 2007. Clear as a bell and stunningly beautiful!

Deep straw. Very hedonistic development on the nose. And the intrinsic richness of this cuvee nicely overcomes the high acid of 1996. Broad and flattering. A little chewy and stolid. Robust rather than fine texture.
