Vintage-Krug is the yardstick by which all vintage champagnes are measured. The 85′ began selling in early 1994. These majestic wines always require a long bottle storage, but the 85′ was surprisingly readily available directly with its wonderfully scented aroma of smoke, cream, honey, nuts, peaches and vanilla. During the last years of the nineties, the wine went into a marked decline that it still has not come out of. I do not intend to drink my own bottles before 2015 and start to worry that the rustic style is here to stay. No it was not!! Beautiful mineral profile and deep clean stoney minerality and classic cool greatness.
