Vinous 90

The 1985 Latour comes from a period where the First Growth was not firing on all cylinders. This offers black fruit laced with cedar and damp loamy scents, tertiary and a little smoky in style. The palate is well balanced though it does not deliver the complexity of a top Latour. There is gentle grip but it needs more finesse towards the finish. This bottle is actually better than others I have drunk in the past, but it's not a patch on the 1982 or 1990, also recently tasted. Tasted at the 1985 dinner at Noble Rot Mayfair. Tasted from magnum at the Claret Club -85 Dinner at -The Square-. Contrasted against the other First Growths for the fourth or fifth time in my career, the Latour still brings up the rear but having said that, this is definitely the best bottle I have encountered. It has a little more vivacity on the nose that previously, with a touch of Provencal herbs and even a faint notes of peppermint. Certainly fresher than I was expecting and you might almost mistake it for Haut-Brion! The palate is medium-bodied, certainly not as complex as Mouton or Lafite with a foursquare, slightly curmudgeonly finish. Drink now-2016. Tasted December 2009. [Neal Martin, 01/12/2009]

We store in LCB Dinton Woods, giving us full control over our stock and client reserves.

The annual charge is £12.50 per 12x75cl (or £6.25 per 6x75cl). To store your wine collection at our Dinton Woods facility, please contact us for a quote.

Delivery

Goods will be delivered to the address provided at order placement, provided it is a shippable address. We reserve the right to cancel orders to non-shippable addresses (e.g., USA dry states).

For UK delivery addresses outside mainland UK (e.g., Scottish Isles, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands, Channel Islands), an additional delivery charge may apply. We will contact you with a quote.

We have no control over additional charges or supply restrictions applied by authorities in the destination area.

When placing your order, you may provide delivery instructions in case you are not available to receive the goods.

Every effort will be made to deliver within 10 days; however, in rare cases, this may be longer.

Orders must be inspected at delivery, and any shortages or breakages should be reported to the carrier immediately before accepting the goods.
