Tasting Notes
Vinous 90
The 1962 Lynch-Bages is rarely seen these days, but two or three bottles have left positive impressions. The last, opened at The Arches, has a seductive and mellow bouquet, having lost some of its primal vigor. Yet it’s equipped with disarming tobacco and cedar scents, with touches of an antique mahogany bureau. The palate is balanced, fresh and elegant but just beginning to run out of steam. Fine.

Robert Parker 92
Tasted at the -World Cup Dinner- at Rotisserie Jules. I remember ordering a great bottle of the Lynch Bages -62 of the list at The Arches many moons ago, but subsequent bottles have never matched. But this is a lovely mature Pauillac. An entrancing, mellow bouquet, faded compared to 5-6 years ago but remaining well defined with cedar, tobacco and a scent that reminds me of my grammar school Victorian desk. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, an unerring sense of symmetry with a nonchalant, understated finish that satiates the sense. Lovely, but I would not leave this too much longer. Drink now-2015. Tasted June 2010.
Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015
