Tasting Notes
The Champagne Club 96
Accompanied by a reverent silence, the torn cork was pulled out with a corkscrew not a trace of a pop. The wine was completely still but clear yellow, like middle-aged Burgundy. Ravishing depth and regal bouquet, with the vintage’s dark and powerful attributes. Under the heaviest aromas I could just make out the typical minty, exotically delicious notes that are Comtes’ signature. Just imagine if the massive, petroleum-like taste had been offset by a tiny bit of mousse? two weeks later my wish was granted. A magnificent bottle with finesse, buttery maturity, and a cannonade of tastes completely satisfied me. The mousse was downright youthful.
